a frantic odyssey
through
strange lands

The sound of Vestindien plays like a frantic odyssey through strange lands. A fever dream of rapidly changing scenarios far beyond control or definition.

Originally formed as a hardcore outfit nearly 15 years ago, Vestindien has undergone a transformation into an undefinable being. After a seven-year-long hiatus following their debut EP “We are the Lords of Hellfire” (2011), the band respawned to work on their first full-length effort “Null” (2021) with a vastly different artistic approach.

“There is something mysterious and esoteric in their music,” one reviewer noted and that is perhaps the best attempt at encapsulating the essence of Vestindien. Although glimpses of early black metal, proto-punk, krautrock and psych shimmer from its surfaces, Vestindien remains the rare, unpolished diamond that rejects categorization.

With the sophomore album “Verdande” (2024), the band seem to reach the immediate peak of their enchanting powers. The coarse, frenetic vocals of Torjus Slettsnok tell the story of a band desperately possessed and the sonic scenery surrounding them is in a constant state of flux, of becoming something else.

With two critically acclaimed albums under their belt, the band is now shifting their focus to live performances, bringing their manic presence to stages across the continent.
